[[the hidden power]]

'-To quote the late Pope John Paul II, in his Letter to Artists, 1999:

"The artist, image of God the Creator.
None can sense more deeply than you artists, ingenious creators of beauty that you are, something of the pathos with which God at the dawn of creation looked upon the work of his hands. A glimmer of that feeling has shone so often in your eyes when—like the artists of every age—captivated by the hidden power of sounds and words, colours and shapes, you have admired the work of your inspiration, sensing in it some echo of the mystery of creation with which God, the sole creator of all things, has wished in some way to associate you."

Our art form is our connection with God. When we work, we see ourselves more clearly, we look deep within ourselves and we reflect. We use what we find to reach out and touch others, make them reflect too. I cannot describe in words the piercing of the soul when performing, or even watching, a piece that strikes me and then seeing that same piercing in the eyes of others.

- I believe our friendship is beautiful, we are beautiful. We have shared, fought, cried and laughed together. We have poured our hearts out in everything we do and when we face challenges together, it makes us stronger. We see the pain and the joy in all things, including each other. '

that's an exerpt from the many questions i answered earlier today for some gmagazine article. it was quite tiring coming back from camp and seeing so many questions to respond to. but once i started, i realised i had so many things to say. because i want to tell everyone exactly what we do and how much pride i take in it. and how much pride i take in the group. and in our extended drama community.

i remember when gerri gave me the letter to artists to read, in the midst of coming up with part of the JS programme booklet. that was the very first paragraph and the one that struck me the most. because in my heart i understand what he is talking about.

the thought of not being around to grow and see growth makes me ache.
